Jubilee Hotel rebirth: A visual feast

Jubilee Place has catalysed the revitalisation of one of Brisbane’s most treasured places, the Jubilee Hotel – an iconic gathering place that has played a much-loved part in Brisbane’s history for over a century. The precinct will benefit from the Hotel’s beautiful heritage character sitting alongside the modern architecture and authentic structural expression of Jubilee Place.

The new design for the Constance Street frontage incorporates a vertical rhythm that relates to the 1880s hotel’s fenestration pattern in a way that ties these two stylistically different building masses together in a recognisable and meaningful way.

The facades on the retained hotel and new extension contrast with shapes and are complementary in their combination of contemporary and heritage. A glazed link will separate the old 1880s hotel from the new rear courtyard.

The outcome will see the 133 year old Jubilee Hotel shine brighter than ever with a new and modern rebirth. It will deliver the perfect mix of past, present and future.

The renewed “Jube” will be about so much more than just eating and drinking; it will be a visual feast that will see centuries old traditional hospitality co-exist with a cutting edge workplace.

The Jubilee Hotel is going to be the jewel in the crown that is Jubilee Place.
